2011 Challenge

PAPER BAG SWAP: In your paper bag must be: *2 fat quarters *1 skein of DMC embroidery thread to match. Extras to add.. the only limit your imagination.Its up to you. *buttons *charms *ribbon *ric rac *beads *bells *flowers *lace *your choice You will be making an item of your choice for your partner. The first two items must be used in some way. You may add items as you wish from your own stash. Be bold, be brave, be creative, we will all make an item and all recieve an item. First meeting for 2010

As Maz had a birthday coming up and Easter being such a hard time to get us all together, we decided to celebreate earlier. How exciting it just spreads the good times further. Maude organised a Mystery Birthday tour for Maz. We all met at Maudes and in convey set off to "The Black Queen" one of Lightning Ridge's famous attractions. Robynne's car died just over an intersection, lovely that every person that passed stopped to offer help ,but hubby was on his way , it seems while going over a bump the security alarm must have been bumped , the push of a button and hey presto on our way again. What a wonderful hour and a half we spent listening and participating in the 3 act play owner Gale Collins enacted for us. We all felt the highlight was the Amazing Lamp show, just breath taking , this attraction is a must for all, not just visitors but locals as well.

Onto Maudes for our Dinner . Maude had drawn a map for hubby to show how she wanted the table set and he did not let her down, all the crystal and white dinner set just right apsolutely breath taking. A wonderful evening filled with friends, birthday wishes, presents, wine, delicious food and laughter, what more could we ask for. Lovely memories for all.

Meeting at Jo's home 17th October 2009

Another wonderful friendship meeting held at Jo's amazing home on the opal fields of LightningRidge. A lovely afternoon spent sipping wine, showing our latest sewing and knitting projects, eating yummy afternoon tea and drinking good coffee.

It was wonderful to have our friend Jenny visiting from Kiama again, we all love it when Jenny is in The Ridge and can attend our meetings.

Each year "Our Maude" hosts a Breast Cancer Breakfast, these breakfasts are legendary in our town with HUGE numbers of ladies attending. Ever year Maude single handedly makes a wonderful quilt to raffle on the day, Maude unveiled her latest creation AMAZING...

How blessed is our group to have this inspirational person amongst us.

Our groups project this year was to each make a cot quilt to donate to our local hospital for babies who are born there to go home with, our Ladies have to trave 2.5 hours to Moree or 4 hours to Dubbo to have their babies, some just dont make it. We thought it would be nice for them to have a quilt.

Saturday, June 27, 2009

Saturday 27th June 2009, we met at Lizzies home for our friendship group. It was just wonderful to have our two intrepid travellers back with us. Lizzie from visiting family in New Zealand and Jo from her amazing trek on the Camino trail through Spain. It was wonderful to hear the stories. Maude and Robynne added to these with their trip to the quilt show in Sydney.

Jo was presented with flowers and a "Congratulations" card to celebrate her return and the completion of her amazing personal journey

Table laden with the usual goodies and plenty for show and tell. Lizzies amazing crotched patchwork quilt a work of art, her work is so fine and precise, photo attached.

We held our May meeting at Winsome's home today, May 30th. A small gathering as we have two globe trotters in the group at the moment, Jo is walking the Camino trail in Spain and Lizzie is in New Zealand.
We had enough food of course for extras and a wonderful afternoon filled with laughter was enjoyed by all.

First meeting for 2009

We had a rainy day for our first meeting for 2009. Maude as always, made us all most welcome, only member missing was Lizzie who unfortunately had work commitments. ( must get her priorities right).
As usual the food was a delight to behold, being Valentines day Maude had decorated the table in red, and requested we all wear an item of red.
Our goals for 2009 are to make baby quilts to be given out to babies born at the Lightning Ridge Health Centre, all agreed and are happy to get started.
